A two week break over New Year and the beginning of January 2016. We booked a Thompsons holiday package, stayed in a great hotel in Candolim and apart from 3 nights at the famous Backwoods Camp with Leio, we did our own trips out with a birding taxi guide, Santosh! A short weekend break to Iceland turned in March, was a wonderful experience as we got to see one of the best Aurora's of the winter, but also some great birds and amazing scenery!

We decided to combine a week in the frozen heartland of Minnesota searching for Snowy Owls and a host of exciting winter birds, with a few days in Arkansas in search of the rare Smith's Longspur. It was extremely cold but amazing fun and we saw some great birds and wildlife.....
